Job Seekers, Employers Meet at Career Expo

The Youth Energised for Success (YES) Community Career Expo was launched at the Mt. St. George Community Centre on Thursday (January 17).

The Expo provided a unique environment for Tobago’s young adults to learn about opportunities and programmes available through the THA’s Division of Finance and the Economy, as well as private sector organisations on the island.

The theme for the event was “Choices – To Create a Better Tomorrow”. Participants enjoyed meaningful engagement with a number of potential employers across several fields of interest, including: agriculture, health services, banking, entrepreneurship and technical vocational training.

Deputy Chief Secretary Joel Jack stressed that the Career Expo provides an excellent opportunity to network and connect with training agencies and potential employers, and also peers with similar interests.

Throughout fiscal 2019, the Division, through the YES Programme, will continue its focus on youth development and empowerment through several workshops and programmes. Among the programmes planed are workshops on resume writing, interview skills and youth entrepreneurship, as well as the Summer Internship Programme.
