Motion on self government

Tobago House of Assembly.
The Executive Council of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) is concerned over the extended and unnecessary delay in granting full internal self government to Tobago.

As a result, a Motion has been filed for debate at Thursday’s plenary sitting calling on the House to mandate the Executive Council to resume negotiations with the Central Government for the facilitation of a process that would ensure the granting of full internal self government to Tobago, in the shortest possible time.

The Motion which will be presented by Chief Secretary Orville London recalled that the House had initiated a process in which the major objective was the granting of full internal self government to Tobago but this had been frustrated by the various measures and strategies initiated by the Central Government. It said at present there was an impasse that could remain unresolved for an indeterminable period.

The sitting begins at 1.30 p.m.
