Financial Assistance Programme
Overview
The Tobago House of Assembly (THA) provides financial assistance for residents of Tobago who experience difficulty covering costs associated with tertiary studies. The activities of the department include the administration of bursaries, grants and scholarships, provision of career and financial guidance and post training placement support.
Who qualifies for assistance?
Applicants must be citizens of Trinidad and Tobago, resident in Tobago and be enrolled in or accepted at an accredited tertiary-level educational institution.
How do I apply?
- Applicants must visit the Division of Education Research and Technology (DERTech) website: https://thadeie.gov.tt/
- On the menu bar hover on the “About Us” tab and click on “Department of Education” followed by” Department of Advanced Training & Advisory Services”
- On the Department page, under the “Types of Financial Assistance” click on any of the following links to access either the “Bursary” or “Grant” form.
A scanned PDF copy of the following supporting documents must be ready for upload with your online Bursary form:
- One (1) recent Passport sized Photo
- National Identification (front and back)
- Certificates, Degrees or Diploma
- Electronic Birth Certificate
- Passport Bio-data page (page 2)
- Medical Certificate (must not be older than six (6) months)
- Curriculum Vitae/Resumé
- Programme Description/Course Outline
- Letter or Statement of Accreditation from the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (Except UWI, UTT, and COSTAAT)
- Official Transcript from the last institution attended to be sent directly to DATAS (In cases where students have commenced studies, transcript should be from present institution)
- Documentation from institution stating annual cost
- Acceptance letter from institution stating the name of the programme (if currently a student, then a status letter stating the programme being pursued, start date and expected date of completion)
- Two recommendations (one from the last institution attended or current institution). Both must not be older than six (6) months.
A scanned PDF copy of the following supporting documents must be ready for upload with your Online Grant form:
- One (1) recent Passport sized Photo
- National Identification (front and back)
- Curriculum Vitae/Resumé
- Course Outline
- Letter of acceptance or Enrolment from institution/school
- Official letter from institution stating duration of programme
If applicable to your request for financial assistance:
- Letter from school/institution stating the cost of the programme
- Schedule of classes (for transportation expenses)
- Official book/material/equipment listing from the institution and a Proforma Invoice
- Certified copy of original rental/lease agreement
- Payslip (if employed)
- Letter or Statement of Accreditation from the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (Except UWI, UTT, and COSTAAT)
