Public Health Clean-up Campaign a success in Tobago

The Tobago House of Assembly’s Island Wide Clean-up Campaign is helping to keep Tobago clean, green, safe, and serene.

The campaign has so far yielded 127 truckloads of mixed waste, collected by the Public Health Department across the island, up to yesterday (September 30, 2015).

“A lot of time, a lot of effort, a lot of resources has gone into this particular exercise,” THA Chief Secretary Orville London said during the Post Executive Council media briefing at the Calder Hall Administrative Complex on Wednesday (September 30, 2015).

“That just represents waste collected during the period 21st September to 29 September.”

Each area averaged between 20 and 22 truckloads of waste, including 21 truckloads collected between Charlotteville to Calder Hall, and 18 more between L’anse Fourmi and Scarborough. The Department collected a wide range of waste, including bulky materials, sheets of galvanised steel, stoves, and refrigerators.

The campaign ends on October 2.
