THA Inauguration Ceremony set for Thursday

The public has been invited to view Thursday’s (January 26) 10th Inauguration Ceremony of the Tobago House of Assembly from James Park in Scarborough.

There is limited seating at the Assembly Legislature for the event, which begins at 10 a.m. However seating will be provided to the public at James Park, opposite the Legislature Building. Screens will also be erected for public viewing.

The inauguration ceremony will see the new Assembly installed following Monday’s (January 23) THA election.

For the event, there will be traffic restrictions at uptown Scarborough between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Vehicular traffic is prohibited on Piggott Street between Burnett Street and Bacolet Connector Road; Jerningham Street between Main Street and Piggott Street and Ross Street.

There will also be no parking in the following areas: Piggott Street between Burnett Street and Bacolet Connector Road; on Jerningham Street, Ross Street and Burnett Street; on Main Street between Bacolet Connector Road and Castries Street; at the Republic Bank Car Park; and at the Old Market (Tambrin) Car Park.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has advised that any vehicle found illegally parked in these areas will be removed and impounded.
