The 13th Inauguration of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) was held today at the Assembly Legislature in Scarborough, marking the formal commencement of the new term (2026-2030), following the THA Elections on 12 January, 2026.
Her Excellency Christine Kangaloo, O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, administered the Oath of Office to eighteen (18) members of the THA. The members affirmed their commitment to uphold the Constitution of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and to serve the people of Tobago with integrity, diligence and accountability.
The fifteen (15) elected Assemblymen sworn in are as follows:
- Parlatuvier/L’Anse Fourmi/Speyside: Chief Secretary, Hon. Farley Chavez Augustine
- Belle Garden/Glamorgan: Deputy Chief Secretary, Dr. Faith Brebnor
- Roxborough/Argyle: Assemblyman Orlando Kerr
- Mt. St. George/Goodwood: Assemblyman Megan Morrison
- Mason Hall South/Bagatelle: Assemblyman Nathisha Charles-Pantin
- Scarborough/Mt. Grace: Assemblyman Trevor James
- Mason Hall North/Moriah: Assemblyman lan Pollard
- Bethesda/Les Coteaux: Assemblyman Zorisha Hackett
- Plymouth/Black Rock: Assemblyman Kern Alexis
- Buccoo/Mt. Pleasant: Assemblyman Keigon Denoon
- Bethel/New Grange: Assemblyman Darren Henry
- Bon Accord/Crown Point: Assemblyman Niketa Percy
- Darrel Spring/Whim: Assemblyman Ricky Joefield
- Lambeau/Lowlands: Assemblyman Wane Clarke
- Signal Hill/Patience Hill: Assemblyman Nigel Taitt
In addition, three (3) appointed Councillors were sworn in:
- Councillor Ackel Franklyn
- Councillor Petal-Ann Roberts
- Councillor Adanna Joseph-Wallace
The Presiding Officer, Niall George was also sworn in as well as the Deputy Presiding Officer, Assemblyman Niketa Percy.
Present at the Inauguration Ceremony were the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, S.C., Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago; the Honourable Mr. Justice Ronnie Boodoosingh, Chief Justice of Trinidad and Tobago; Senator the Honourable Wade Mark, President of the Senate; Senator the Honourable John Jeremie, S.C., Attorney General of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago; Cabinet Ministers; the Leader of the Opposition and senior public servants.
The THA comprises two main arms, the Legislative and the Executive. The Legislative Arm, the Assembly Legislature, is the forum in which all members of the THA meet in plenary and in select committees to make decisions for the Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Executive Arm of the THA is headed by the Chief Secretary in his capacity as leader of the Executive Council. The Executive Council has individual and collective responsibility for the formulation and implementation of policies and programmes of the THA through its respective Divisions.
