‘Jazz’ Benefits Tobago Businesses Too

Hoteliers are among the business that benefited from the Tobago Jazz Experience. According to Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles, some hotels were fully booked by visitors attending the event.

“A number of properties would have done quite well,” Charles said.

Charles said the construction of villas, many owned by persons living abroad, indicates that the tourism sector is viable.

“Something good and positive is happening,” he said, “More importantly people are seeing investment opportunities, otherwise they wouldn’t [build].”

There was a 17.8 per cent increase in international arrivals for the period January to April 2019.

In 2018, international visitor arrivals for the period January to April totaled 10,229.

“For 2019, international arrivals for the period being reviewed was 12,450,” Charles added.
