Facelift For Sporting Facilities

To ensure athletes and sporting bodies have access to quality sporting facilities, Tobago has implemented a facilities management programme.

Infrastructural work will soon begin on a number of venues across the island. Shaw Park Recreation Ground is set for a major overhaul, with the demolition and reconstruction of the Division’s sport administration offices. This project, which is being planned by the Division of Sport and Youth Affairs, has a four-month timeline.

The roof of the Shaw Park Basketball Court pavilion will also be upgraded. These repairs should be completed in two weeks, starting from October 22.

Residents of Patience Hill will also enjoy a safer sporting experience, with a new perimeter fence at the playing field. And Roxborough Recreation Complex is also scheduled for significant upgrades over a three-month period.

Phase I includes the removal of sheeting, as well as repairs to the railings and steel frames at the pavilion. During this period, the use of the venue will be limited. To book the venue, the public can contact the Department of Sport at 612-3792 ext. 1006.
