THA Executive Council Participates in Intensive Planning Retreat

The Office of the Chief Secretary (OCS) informs the public that today, all members of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Executive Council, inclusive of Assistant Secretaries, commence a rigorous training programme that will extend to the weekend.

The agenda of the training programme, which runs daily from 9.00 am to 10.00 pm at the Rovanel’s Resort includes:

  1. Political Administrative Interface 
  2. Roles and Responsibilities of the Executive vis-à-vis that of the Public Servants 
  3. Intergovernmental Affairs 
  4. New Governance Models
  5. Public Procurement and Contracts Regulation
  6. Financial Management, Rules and Accounting Practices 
  7. The Functions of the Legislature and the THA Act
  8. Updating Tobago’s COVID-19 response 
  9. Prioritizing projects 
  10. Reviewing and Determining Deliverables for the first quarter of 2022
  11. Tobago’s Finances 
  12. Three (3) Executive Council Meetings 
  13. Basic Guidelines in Protocol & Etiquette 
  14. Team Building and Coherent Governance 
  15. Political Life and Mental Health 
  16. Diet and Nutrition
  17. Body Mobility for Public Officials 

 

The facilitators being used for the training include: Reginald Dumas (former head of the Public Service); Dr. Vanus James; Moonilal Lalchan (Procurement Regulator & Chairman, Office of Procurement Regulation); Bindley Benjamin (retired auditor); Christo Gift S.C. (former Presiding Officer and Attorney-at-Law); L. Anthony Watkins (Odyssey CONSULTinc Ltd); Dr. Joanne Clovie-Cruickshank; Dr. Alina Williams; Tomley Roberts; Javon Carrington and Lenore Dorset. 

To culminate, as well as to provide the public with an overview of the Retreat, a virtual press conference will be held on Sunday 09th January, 2022, at 2 pm, where some critical announcements will be made
