Spotlight on Advanced Students

The Accelerated Learning Programme will begin today (July 15).

Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles said the two-week programme will help enhance the academic performances of Tobago’s above-average students, particularly in the areas of critical thinking and student performance.

The Chief Secretary, who is also Secretary of Education, Innovation, and Energy, said research showed such programmes improve the speed and quality of learning by as much as 300 per cent.

“…We have been focusing in the last two years [on] some of our weaker students, and we are saying that the time has come when we need to also pay some attention to some of our stronger students,” Charles said.

He said the programme is a step toward helping advanced students fulfill their potential.
