Road Show A Hit

Tobago’s roadshow to Trinidad in May has been described as a success.

And Secretary of the Division of Community Development, Enterprise Development and Labour Marslyn Melville-Jack said the Tobago House of Assembly will continue to invest in the island’s entrepreneurs.

Melville-Jack said more than $125,000 in sales were earned by entrepreneurs at the event during the roadshow, which ran from May 23-25 at Trincity Mall.

“To gather that kind of response and support from the Trinidad audience was really remarkable,” she said at Wednesday’s (July 10) post Executive Council media briefing at the Victor E Bruce Financial Complex.

The Community Development Secretary said the Road Show was the result of collaboration between the Division of Tourism, Culture, and Transportation and her Division.

“It was an attempt to present the culture of Tobago, and to encourage our Trinidad brothers and sisters to come to Tobago and participate in the Tobago Heritage Festival,” she stated.

Melville-Jack noted several success stories, including Edward Jones of NU Impact Solutions, who was sold out in two days.

“He was able to sign a deal with Xtra Foods for distribution of his product in four outlets. He also received an order from Marriot Hotel, who will now be using his multipurpose cleaner in their hotels,” she revealed.

The Secretary said Jones had also secured warehouse space in Trinidad.
