Pink Room Opens

Tobago now has a Women’s Health Service/Pink Room and Breast Health Clinic.

The services were launched on Monday (May 27) by the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development.

The facility was established in East Tobago and is located at Windward Road, Louis D’Or. It’s aimed at improving the quality of life for women in Tobago through prevention, public awareness and control strategies related to breast cancer and other women’s health issues.

At the commissioning ceremony, Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles encouraged Tobago’s women to take advantage of the services being offered. He said the THA remains committed to providing quality healthcare services on the island.

“Add yourselves to your to-do list and ensure to take care of your health,” Charles told attendees.

At the centre, women will have access to sexual and reproductive health services, breast health services and counselling.

During the event, Executive Director, Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago Dona Da Costa Martinez made the commitment that her organisation will work together with the Division and the Tobago Regional Health Authority to help the island’s women improve their sexual health practices.

The Women’s Health Service / Pink Room and Breast Health Clinic will be open free to the public Monday to Fridays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
