Orientation for Public Health workers

An orientation session was held for the first batch of daily-paid, public health workers at the Fairfield Complex, Bacolet on January 20, 2020.

The one-day session gave the workers an overview of the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development and informed them about the role of the Public Health Services Department (PHSD). It also covered reporting lines, terms and conditions of employment, roles and responsibilities of employees, nutrition, health and wellness and anger management techniques.

“Health is so important…if you’re not healthy, you cannot build roads, learn or do anything else,” Health Administrator Dianne Baker-Henry said, while also encouraging them to deliver excellent work and make a difference.

An agreement was recently signed for the Permanent Cadre of Daily-paid employees in the PHSD for the period 2013 to 2019. The agreement upgraded 260 regular/casual  workers to permanent status with the respective benefits.
