Irrigation Project in Progress

A feasibility study is underway to provide irrigation at the Goldsborough Estate, as part of the ongoing Goldsborough Agricultural Irrigation Project.

“The Division now has a contract with Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (UDECOTT) and that entity would have engaged Caribbean Well Service Company Ltd. Phase 1 of the project started two weeks ago and this phase will actually be a feasibility study of the entire project, which should be completed by the end of August 2019,” said Secretary of the Division of Food Production, Forestry and Fisheries, Hayden Spencer.

The irrigation project is expected to support the water needs of farmers during the dry season as limited rainfall affects households, businesses and farmers in the Goldsborough region.
