Y-Zone Kicks Off
Artistic Painting, facilitated by Tomley Roberts at the Signal Hill Youth Centre as part of the Y-Zone programme.

The Y-Zones Programmes are off to a great start with courses being held in eight communities.

The Y-Zone training programmes are geared towards building sustainable development. Facilities are located in several villages including Argyle, Mason Hall, and Mt. Pleasant.

Participants in the 2019 programme are getting an opportunity to learn various skills including introduction to Microsoft Word, artistic paintings, and basic small appliance repairs.

“We would provide programmes that we felt would impact positively on our young people,” Secretary of Community Development, Enterprise Development and Labour Marslyn Melville-Jack said.

In September 2018, nearly 100 participants graduated from the programme.

This year’s participants, who began last month, will continue learning their respective disciplines until May 31, 2019.
