Tourism gets a boost

Destination Tobago is slated to host the World Inter Hash 2020 pre-lube activities.

World Inter Hash 2020 will bring thousands of international cross-country runners (hashers) to Trinidad and Tobago from April 23rd to 26th and the Tobago ‘pre- lube’ activities will be held between April 18th and 22nd.

Hashing allows participants to view the natural attractions of a country while running through various terrains including beaches, hills and forested areas.

Participants will explore Tobago’s brand pillars – Sea and Beaches, Eco Adventure & Nature, Local Culture, People and Heritage – and experience two nature trail runs during the Tobago leg of activities. These include a ‘Beach to Beach trail’ and a ‘Les Coteaux /Arnos Vale trail.’

Tourism Secretary Nadine Stewart-Phillips said, “This presents a myriad of opportunities for the island’s burgeoning tourism sector and it is the ideal mechanism that will assist in bringing further exposure to Destination Tobago.”

“Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy our eco-tourism product as well as enjoy the richness of Tobago’s indigenous culture and other aspects of our island’s tourism offerings,” she added.

Historically, World Inter Hash has generated over US $15 million for its host region, with US$10 million going to the host country.
