Tobago Marks World Aids Day

“Know Your Status” was the theme for this year’s World AIDS Day (December 1). And it’s what Tobagonians are being encouraged to do.

The Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development is also urging Tobagonians to support a friend, or someone they know who may be HIV positive, by wearing a red ribbon to help end the stigma against HIV.

World AIDS Day is an occasion where people worldwide unite in the fight against HIV/AIDS to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness.

Worldwide people are encouraged to get tested, show support to a friend or someone who they know is HIV positive, and wear the red ribbon.

This year marked the 30th anniversary of World AIDS Day.
