Shorter Wait Times At ‘Scarborough General’

The Scarborough General Hospital is seeing steady improvements to its service delivery.

Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development Dr. Agatha Carrington said this is the result of changes being made to the health system.

“The areas have been challenged over time in terms of the long wait time our clients face,” Dr. Carrington said. “Therefore, within the past week we have redesigned the service.”

“We now have categories four and five, those nonemergency cases are now managed separately. And the emergency cases are managed in the trauma area,” she said.

The Secretary indicated the changes have resulted in a reduction of the wait time.

“We look forward to measuring those results, but from the anecdotal data we are seeing and comments from our clients, there has been positive feedback in terms of those improvements.”
