Investing in Health Infrastructure

Health infrastructure continues to be improved as more focus is being placed on health promotion and disease prevention in Tobago.

Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development, Councillor Dr. Agatha Carrington, said this is being done to reduce the impact of lifestyle diseases on the island.

During the weekly Post Executive Council Media Briefing at the Division of Tourism, Culture and Transportation, Dr. Carrington said the Division was committed to looking at its infrastructure.

“We have started construction of the Moriah Health Centre, which we are on track to complete in April, and we have turned the sod for the Roxborough hospital. We expect to deliver that in September of 2020,” Dr. Carrington said.

On-site training and development opportunities are also being provided for medical specialists as part of a continuous process of building capacity and improving healthcare service delivery.
