Four Months For ‘Claude Noel’ Rehab

Rehabilitation works on the Claude Noel Highway are set to begin soon.

And according to Secretary of Infrastructure, Quarries and the Environment Kwesi Des Vignes the work will cause some traffic disruptions.

“The reality is, that there will now be, of course, some inconveniences,” Des Vignes said. “This project is estimated to last between four to four-and-a-half months, but we are hoping to get the contractor down, in terms of time,” he said.

Des Vignes said his Division is working alongside contractors and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service to reduce the impact of the project on the travelling public in that period.

“It means in the first instance because the highway is the main artery, we won’t want to block traffic at all or block it off completely, so we will be doing paving in the night or works in the night time primarily,” he said.

Des Vignes said some work on the highway may have to be done during the daytime. He said, however, that this will be avoided where possible due to the greater inconvenience it will cause to the travelling public.
