DHWFD Hosts Elderly Symposium

On Thursday 24th October, 2019 senior citizens, caregivers, ageing specialists, healthcare professionals and academic researchers attended the Elderly Symposium of the 4th Caribbean Conference held at the Magdalena Grand Beach and Golf Resort.

This Symposium was held by the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development (DHWFD) in collaboration with the International Federation of Associations of the Elderly (FIAPA) and the Tobago Association of the Elderly under the theme “Ageing, Elder Abuse and the Rights of the Elderly”.  There was a formal opening ceremony followed by thought provoking and informative presentations, panel discussions and entertainment. Some of the topics discussed were, Chronic Diseases in Elderly, Elderly Abuse and Healthy Aging.
