Primary, secondary and tertiary education is free in Trinidad and Tobago. However, secondary and tertiary education is optional, while primary education is mandatory for children between the ages of 5 to 12 years.

Additionally Tobagonians are afforded a number of academic, technical and vocational training opportunities through the THA Financial Assitance Programme.
