The Honourable Orville Delano London was born in Parlatuvier, Tobago in November 1945, where he spent his early childhood. He obtained his primary school education at the Whim Anglican Primary School, after which he attended Bishop’s High School in Mt. Marie, Scarborough. Mr. London then pursued an undergraduate degree at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, from which he graduated with Honours in History and Sociology in 1966. Later, he completed postgraduate studies at his alma mater, the University of the West Indies, obtaining diplomas in Education and International Relations.

A former Principal of Signal Hill Senior Comprehensive and Sports Editor of the Tobago News, Mr. London began his political career in 1995 as a Senator in the Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Subsequently, he served as a Councillor in the Tobago House of Assembly from 1996 until 2001 when he was elected Chief Secretary. Mr. London is currently serving a second term of office as Chief Secretary, after having led the Peoples’ National Movement (PNM) to victory in the Tobago House of Assembly elections in 2005 as Deputy Political Leader - a position which he has held since 1997.

Prior to his involvement in politics, Mr. London served on the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board of Control. In addition, he held several positions in varied sporting associations as President of the Tobago Cricket Association, Secretary of the Tobago Football Association, and Secretary of the Tobago Secondary Schools’ Athletics Committee. Mr. London is also the co-founder of the Tobago Lawn Tennis Association.
